Cold-Brew Rooibos for Tomorrow: A Five-Minute Meal-Planning Ritual

Set up tomorrow's iced tea while tonight's dinner is winding down. This simple cold-brew rooibos method fits naturally into meal planning.

Some meal-planning wins are less about cooking more and more about making one small decision ahead of time. Cold-brew rooibos is one of them. It takes about five minutes to set up, rests in the refrigerator overnight, and is ready to pour when tomorrow's dinner reaches the table.

The evening-before method

Add the amount of loose-leaf rooibos you normally use for your pitcher to a covered container. Fill it with cool water, refrigerate for 8 to 12 hours, then strain. Serve over ice. If you prefer a stronger glass, use a little more tea next time rather than extending the brew indefinitely.

Build it into dinner planning

Place the pitcher in the refrigerator while you put away dinner leftovers or write tomorrow's meal note. That small cue makes the ritual easy to remember. The finished tea works especially well beside grain bowls, roasted vegetables, tacos, sandwiches, and fruit-forward desserts.

Try an Orange Rooibos variation

Orange Rooibos brings a soft citrus note that feels at home over ice. Serve it plain first, then add an orange wheel or a few fresh mint leaves if you want a brighter presentation. Sweetener is optional; taste before adding it.

A useful tea ritual does not need to be elaborate. Prepare tonight, pour tomorrow, and let one part of dinner already be done.
